This Privacy Policy describes how What Do You Want? ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our mobile application What Do You Want? (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide:
- Account information: name, email address, and password when you register
- Profile information: display name, profile photo
- User-generated content: swipe preferences, restaurant selections, session data
Information Collected Automatically:
- Location data: precise or approximate GPS location to find nearby restaurants (only when you grant permission). We do not store your precise location — only the restaurants you interact with.
- Device information: device type, OS, unique device identifiers, app version
- Usage data: features used, screens viewed, session length
- Swipe analytics: which restaurants you swipe on (left or right), cuisine type, and price level — used to build your personalized taste profile (see below)
- Crash reports and diagnostics via Firebase Crashlytics
Information from Third Parties:
- Google Places API: restaurant data fetched based on your location
- Firebase (Google LLC): authentication, data storage, analytics, and crash reporting

- Provide, maintain, and improve the App
- Create and manage your account
- Match you with restaurant suggestions based on your location and preferences
- Build a personalized taste profile from your swipe history to improve restaurant recommendations over time
- Calculate compatibility scores between swiping partners to enhance shared session results
- Facilitate shared swiping sessions with friends
- Send push notifications (with your permission)
- Monitor and fix bugs and performance issues
- Comply with legal obligations
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with:
- Service providers: Firebase/Google and Google Places API — only as needed to operate the App
- Other users: your display name and profile photo are visible to friends in a shared session
- Legal compliance: if required by law, court order, or government authority
- Business transfers: if the Company is acquired or merges with another entity
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by contacting support@wdyw.io. We process deletion requests within 30 days.
6. Your Rights by State
We respect privacy rights granted to residents of all U.S. states. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell data).
This includes rights under California (CCPA/CPRA), Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Texas (TDPSA), and all other enacted state privacy laws. To exercise your rights, contact support@wdyw.io. We respond within 45 days.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Taste Profiles & Personalization
When you swipe on restaurants, we build a taste profile tied to your account. This profile includes your preferred cuisine types, price level tendencies, and swipe patterns. We use this data to:
- Rank and sort restaurant suggestions so you see places you're more likely to enjoy
- Calculate compatibility scores between you and your swiping partner
Your taste profile is stored in Firebase and is not shared with third parties. You can reset your taste profile or delete your account at any time.
9. Location Data
We collect your location to find restaurants near you, only while you actively use the App and only with your permission. We do not store your precise location or track your location in the background. Revoke location permission anytime in your device settings.
10. Push Notifications
We may send push notifications about matches and session invites. Opt out anytime through your device notification settings.
11. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. No system is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
